Salaam! This is Thanaa, co-founder of Arabanion. The story of Arabanion is the story of getting from your narrow world to the broad world.
Two years ago, out of the blue, I received a message from a fellow I hadn’t spoken to in four years. His number wasn’t saved on my phone, and the message was: “Thanaa, how are you? This is Muhammad. I hope you’re well.”
What followed was even more unexpected. Muhammad proposed an idea—a vision, really. He suggested we start a business together, one dedicated to teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. But this wasn’t just a business. It was a noble mission. He spoke passionately about offering learners a comprehensive experience in learning the Arabic language and the Holy Quran. His vision was ambitious yet inspiring: to help make Arabic the most rapidly growing language in the world through Arabanion.
At that moment, I felt a powerful shift. This wasn’t a coincidence. This was the divine message I knew it would come to bring me to the broad world. I knew it marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life.
The idea we embraced wasn’t just about teaching a language. It was about creating meaningful connections. Arabic is a language of companionship, and at Arabanion, we aim to bring this essence to life, providing a truly immersive and fulfilling learning experience.
My first learner, Mirha. Her name means joy and happiness, and that’s exactly what our time together was—pure joy. Mirha came all the way from Bosnia to Egypt, where we finally met in person. Our bond transcended the roles of teacher and student; we became companions, friends, and sisters.
Today, Arabanion has grown into a vibrant community. Our learners—whom we call “Arabanions”—are not just students; they are companions on a shared journey. Together, we’re adding new worlds to our own, building friendships, and creating a global network of Arabic speakers.
With every new Arabanion, we take one step closer to our dream: a world where Arabic thrives as the most growing language in the world.
